EXHIBIT 34 : THE SECOND LAYER by Sheebangs
Exhibit 34: The Second Layer
A Decade of Vision, Growth, and Multidisciplinary Mastery
On December 14, 2025, the Oberon Asscher Showroom welcomed a landmark moment in its curatorial history with Exhibit 34: The Second Layer — a powerful art showcase featuring the works of SheeBangs, also known as Julianna. The exhibition marked a rare and meaningful milestone: ten years of multidisciplinary artistry, bridging fashion, photography, painting, and music, all under one roof.
This exhibition was more than a showcase — it was a homecoming.

Julianna became the 10th artist to exhibit at the Oberon Asscher Showroom, a distinction reserved for creatives whose work embodies intention, evolution, and cultural relevance. Having known Julianna for over a decade, I’ve always recognized her as someone undeniably fresh, stylish, and creatively fearless. Long before accolades and exhibitions, she carried herself as an artist in every sense of the word. To witness her return — and to host her work in my space — was deeply special.
That night, the showroom felt less like a gallery and more like a family gathering. Old friends reunited. Familiar faces from college reconnected. The room was filled with shared history, laughter, and mutual support — a reminder that true creative communities don’t dissolve with time; they evolve. Exhibit 34 stood as proof that the bonds formed in our early creative years still matter, still inspire, and still show up.

The Artist’s Words
In Julianna’s own words:
“Ten years after my first show, Exhibit 24, I return with new eyes, new layers, and new language. This exhibition bridges fashion, photography, and painting — capturing moments, reimagining them in color and texture. My work centers Black women in their many shades of power, softness, and transformation. The Second Layer is both a reflection of growth and a continuation — the evolution of the artist I was at 24, and the woman I am at 34.”
The Second Layer is a comprehensive body of work spanning 2015–2025, representing a decade-long progression of transdisciplinary practice. Every piece in the exhibition was creatively directed, styled, photographed, and painted by Julianna herself, with one exception — a single photograph captured by fellow artist Gabrielle Ferrovecchio.

The exhibition unfolds in chapters:
-
2015 – Trap Queens Series
The two largest paintings on display originate from Julianna’s first painting series, Trap Queens, initially showcased in Valdosta, Georgia. Deeply influenced by music and culture, each piece was named after a popular song from that era. The series intertwines high fashion, street fashion, music, and fine art while simultaneously critiquing the media’s representation of women who were — and remain — close to her heart. -
2019 – Savannah Years
Works created during her time living and studying in Savannah, Georgia mark a pivotal moment of self-discovery. Many of these pieces had never been publicly displayed until this exhibition. Savannah represents the beginning of Julianna’s artistic growth — a place where she began to fully understand herself as a creator. -
2020–2025 – Pandemic Works
This chapter carries the deepest emotional weight. Following the loss of her brother and mother, Julianna experienced a creative pause that reshaped her practice. Music became therapy. She became a DJ. Painting and photography emerged sporadically as she searched for cohesion. During this time, she expanded into graphic design and fashion, launching the World Influence Collection, revisiting digital fashion illustration, and centering her work around the representation of Black creatives across industries. These layered explorations culminate in the work presented today.
A Moment Worth Marking
Exhibit 34: The Second Layer is not simply an art show — it is a testament to resilience, growth, and the power of staying committed to your vision, even through loss and transformation. It reflects what happens when an artist honors every phase of their journey instead of erasing it.
To host this exhibition at Oberon Asscher was an honor. To witness Julianna’s evolution — from who she was at 24 to who she is at 34 — was inspiring. This exhibition stands as a reminder that creative paths are rarely linear, but when nurtured with patience, intention, and community, they become something truly timeless.
